C'mon Summer! (March 2nd)
Mother Nature has been quite
kind to us in the North, its been cold enough for the ski
resorts to make snow but we haven't had to shovel too much
snow out of the driveways however it has been a little too
cold for my liking. August looks pretty good for me
this year as far as bookings go, I can't wait to get back
behind the "DJ curtain" and do what I do best! Also, I
want to give a shout out to Ms. Kennedy at the Petoskey
Public Schools, thank you so much for having me again for
the Daddy Daughter dance again this year, what a blast!
I don't think he will follow in my footsteps as far as being
a DJ but my son Logan helped me out with the dance, he was
the guy taking all the requests while I pushed the buttons!
It's back to work for now at the hardware in Harbor Springs
for me but thoughts of all the weddings coming up is what
keeps me pushing forward, c'mon summer! Join me on

Web Pages and Videos
All this great technology and
still no one can design a web site that looks good and works
properly, including me! I designed this one on my
laptop and it looked great but when I saw it on my Dads
computer some of the pages were not framed properly. I
don't know any web page experts who are willing to help me
with my little problem (for free) so I just live with it, no
biggie. You get to see what I look like and you even
get to hear my voice so you know you are getting a real
handsome fellow with great pipes, at least that what my Mom
says. The point I am really trying to make is you
kinda get to meet me before you meet me, heck this is better
than a blind date! Sometimes people ask me if I have a
video of what I do, sort of like an audition. I don't.
Truth be known that all of the TV shows you watch are filmed
in segments and more of the show ends up on the cutting room
floor after major editing. What you don't get to see
is all the unpolished reality of what the show would look
like if it were live. Well folks, I do it live and I
have been doing it live for many years, Longer than Brad and
Jen have been alive, oops, that makes feel old. You
are the director, producer and the writer, it's your show,
all I do is create the soundtrack for an evening of dancing,
fun and memories that you will treasure for the rest of your
lives. Check out my Testimonials
page to read what my clients say about me. One more
thing... yes I do have references, just ask.
Something to keep in mind
When choosing song selections
for later on in the evening, after all the formal dances,
remember to consider your guests. This is not the time
to think about all your own favorite songs, save that idea
for your I-Pod. Many of your friends and family
members will be coming from far away to celebrate with you
on your special night so while you love Led Zeppelin, Uncle
"Joe" or Aunt "Susie" may prefer Frank Sinatra.
Hopefully your guests will want to dance, fast and slow, and
I assure you they will not want to "throw down" to Jimmy
Hendrix. Don't get me wrong, in a perfect world we
would all be gettin' busy, bustin' a move and cuttin' a rug
to Iron Maiden or Metallica but try getting Uncle Joe to go
see Rob Zombie in concert with you...I don't think so!

Summer begins this month but I
think someone forgot to tell Mother Nature. I'm not
sure but I think it has been unseasonably cold for June...
Regardless of the weather the wedding and reception last
weekend was a success!
It started out on the shores of
Elk Lake a few years before when the Groom proposed to his
Bride, fast forward to last weekend when they were wed.
The sky was grey and the wind blew hard enough to see the
underside of the new leaves on the big maple trees.
After the vows the reception followed in a rather LARGE
tent.
As dinner got under way so did
the rain. It came down hard at times but it did not
dampen the spirit of the party. The bridal dance,
father/daughter dance and the mother/son dance was
choreographed and blended non-stop from one to the other.
After a minute or so into the mother/son dance we busted into a
rocking rendition of "What I Like About You" by the
Romantics. The entire group of guests were then invited to
he floor and we danced, again, non-stop, to a rockin' oldies
set.
This was the weekend that
marked the beginning of the summer wedding season, as I am
now booked at least one day out of every weekend till the
end of August. Bring it on!

I have been setting up, plugging in
and turning on for nearly thirty years. Performing for the United
States Marine Corp was certainly one of the highlights of my career,
along with many mega corporations as well as hundreds of weddings.
I have to say the most memorable of
all are the father daughter dances held at the Petoskey High School
for the last four years. This is a night when daddies and daughters
(8 to 10 years old) gather for two hours to dance, decorate cookies
and paint their faces. I guess being a father of a little girl, who
is now all grown up, has something to do with the fondness I have
being a part of this occasion.
No less than one hundred and fifty
daddies and daughters show up and the daddies put away all their
grown-up issues and dance the night away. Some dads dance better
than the others but the girls all seem to be experts!
I would like to thank Ms. Kennedy
for allowing me to share such a special night. They don’t realize
it now but these dances will live forever in the memories of all the
darling little ladies who got to have daddy all to themselves!
Once again, thank you to all!

Wow what a busy summer, since
the beginning of June, every weekend has been booked solid.
Thank you to all the brides and grooms and all of your
families for letting me celebrate your weddings with ya'll!
I have shared some very special evenings at places like the
Castle of Charlevoix, the beaches of Bay Harbor and the
beaches of Dear Lake where staff of Boyne USA put on a
lovely wedding and a reception at the Mountain under a star
lit sky. Other places included the Agape on the Bay in
Ossineke, another incredibly beautiful setting on the
sunrise side of the state and the Birchwood Country Club of
Harbor Springs. In August I had the pleasure of
playing at the Perry Hotel in Petoskey and the Wolverine
Dilworth Inn of Boyne city.
There were lots of great times
and crazy people, yes I said CRAZY PEOPLE who I have had the
pleasure of entertaining. It is my belief that those
of you who are on your "best behavior" during the wedding
and even during dinner, show your true colors when the
dancing begins, as well as myself. I love what I
do and it shows and it reflects off of you, thanks for all
the great times!
